Riverside Handwarmers Free Knitting Pattern

These fingerless mittens are the perfect handwarmers for those of us who work in cold offices! Really simple to make and a fast, straight-forward knit, these also make an excellent stashbuster of  a present!

Materials: Colinette Jitterbug in Kingfisher, approximately half a skein (or any slightly-thicker sock-weight yarn in your stash!)

Size: Women’s Small hand, simply add stitches for a bigger size!

Needles: Size US 2/2.75mm DPN needles

Directions:

Cast on 44 sts onto one DPN. Distribute stitches between the needles, then join to knit in the round, being careful not to twist sts.

Work K2, P2 rib for 30 round.

For thumb slit: At beginning of next row, bind off 10 stitches in rib, work to end of round. Cast on 10 sts at beg of next round, then continue in rib until desired length.

I worked about 50 rows after the thumb slit for this length, which reaches about a third of the way down my forearm.
